Trevor Chalobah has signed a new long term contract at Chelsea.
Chalobah, 23, has established himself under head coach Graham Potter and has amassed 13 appearances in all competitions this season. Majority of those appearances have also come in his preferred position of centre-back, usually on the right of Chelsea’s back three alongside veterans Thiago Silva and Kalidou Koulibaly.
Notably, Chalobah was involved in both of Chelsea’s clean sheets against AC Milan during the Champions League group stages, that allowed Potter’s side to progress to the knockout phases.
On signing his new deal, Chalobah said: ‘I’m over the moon to sign this contract. It’s been an honour every time I put the shirt on. I want to give my all and do anything for this club.
‘As everyone knows I’ve been here from a young age and to continue here is every kid’s dream. Whenever I get the chance, I’ll give my all for the club and look for the future ahead.
‘I want to say thanks to God for this, without Him none of this would be possible. And just always believing. Thanks to my family as well and the club for trusting in me. I’ll now continue to give my all.’
The England Under-21 international, whose older Nathaniel also previously played for Chelsea, made his Premier League debut for the west London club against Crystal Palace in August last season. Chalobah capped a fine display with a lovely goal in that game, stroking the ball from outside of the area into the bottom corner.
