John Campbell banned for 4 years: West Indies left-handed opener In the doping case, John Campbell has been handed a four-year ban for doping. Campbell played 20 test matches, six one-day internationals and two Twenty20 internationals for the West Indies, before JADCO accused him of refusing to provide a blood sample at his home in Kingston in April.

West Indies left-handed opener John Campbell was caught in the anti-doping case. He was banned for four years. The Jamaican Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) has given him this punishment, according to the news agency Reuters.

JADCO’s 18-page ruling said Campbell had refused to submit to a doping test. He was called to perform this test in Kingston last April. He was given a time to give a blood sample. But this Caribbean star did not go to donate blood during this period. As a result this action has been taken against him.

“The panel is persuaded to a comfortable degree of satisfaction that the athlete committed an anti-doping rule violation, namely a breach of JADCO rule 2.3. The panel does not find, on the evidence presented, that the athlete’s anti-doping violation was not intentional. In the circumstance of this case, the athlete is ineligible for a period of four years.”

JADCO said Campbell violated Article 2.3 of the Anti-Doping Rules. He could not give any argument in his favor about not breaking the rules. The 29-year-old opener has been banned for 4 years after a three-member independent committee reviewed the whole. He will not be considered for any kind of sports till next May 2026.

Such a ban could spell the end of Campbell’s career, especially with the opener yet to really consolidate his place in the Test squad.

His last outing for the Caribbean side came last June against Bangladesh, but it was only his fifth Test after returning from a year-long spell on the sidelines due to poor form.
