France vs Poland World Cup 2022 LIVE updates: Predictions, lineup news and start time

Didier Deschamps is certainly not ruling it out — and the France head coach has some thoughts on why there’s been so many shocks at the World Cup so far.

“Every match is different,” Deschamps said. “The matches we saw (on Friday) night were tough as well, could have gone either way.

“All of the teams that are here deserve it, even if they’re not in a position to go through, they still want to give everything to go through and that’s what we saw last night, and in our game against Tunisia.

“The outcome of a match is never sure, there may be surprises. As I say, all teams are there for a reason, we try and analyse previous games but all of these players are playing at a very high level for top clubs.

“Sometimes you see great support in the crowds for certain teams, especially if they are local, and that was the case for Tunisia when they played us.

“The players use that enthusiasm from the crowd to motivate them. But I am not there to make a forecast, I’ll wait and see.

“I’m sure that every team will be up for the game. If you look back to my first World Cup as a coach in 2014 in Brazil, you saw some weak sides but there aren’t weak sides now that you face at the tournament.

“Argentina saw that in their first match, but still managed to qualify for the last 16. So, matches can be tough.”
